All Troop 174 Eagle Scouts ages 16-18 are welcome to apply to Scoutmaster Frank Otte to become Junior Assistant Scoutmasters in Troop 174. We hope that you will be able to join the troop on several hikes. You must register as a scout in troop 174 and submit a registration application along with the $10 national fee. Please arrive at the hike on Friday night or before breakfast on Saturday morning. You will advise the patrol leaders as directed by the Scoutmaster. You will assist with patrol inspection after meals and with campfire set up and troop games. You will be able to join senior patrol activities during the day on Saturday. You must provide all of your own camping gear and may prepare your own meals if you like using food that you bring. You are also welcome to eat at the bus if you sign up in advance at the troop meeting the Monday before the hike and pay the $20 meal fee on the hike. If you attend a troop meeting you must wear the full scout uniform including your Eagle badge. Attendance is not required but occasionally you may attend to help the scoutmaster with a special event. You are welcome to take merit badge classes if you like to earn Eagle Palms.
