Scouting is available to boys who have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old or to boys who are 11 years old, but not yet 18 years old. Scouting is also available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts and are at least ten years old. Boys normally join Troop 174 at or near the start of each school year. Cub Scout Webelos Dens are welcome to attend a Troop 174 weekend campout as a group in the spring or attend a troop meeting anytime. Contact us for more information.
Troop 174, in the NorthStar District of the Crossroads of America Council (Indianapolis), is a vibrant troop serving the Meridian-Kessler, Broad Ripple, and Butler-Tarkington neighborhoods of Indianapolis and surrounding portions of Marion, Hamilton, and Boone Counties since 1949. Our meetings are held on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. during the school year in the Activity Center (gym) of our sponsor Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 317 East 57th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220. With over 100 current scouts, dozens of active adult leaders, and scores of Eagle scouts since our founding, Troop 174 is the home for your son in the Boy Scouts of America program in Central Indiana. Troop 174 scouts attend more than a dozen schools in the Indianapolis area. Weekend campouts are held monthly during autumn, winter,and spring seasons and each February scouts in the troop ski at Winter Park in Colorado.
